Guided River Awareness (4 Hour Session)

Service Description

Want to SUP on the river but unsure how? Worried about the potential dangers? Or you just want to improve your technique to get the most out of the river? Then this is the guided tour for you! This guided tour will take us through some of the most beautiful Shropshire Countryside, passing sandstone cliffs and lush green fields with plenty of wildlife along the way including the gorgeous Kingfishers. The route is approximately 14km in length starting in Jackfields near Ironbridge, finishing in the stunning market town of Bridgnorth. Our accredited Water Skills Academy Adventure Guides will talk you through how to plan a river trip, safety kit, how to read the river for the best lines and identify hazards. They will also provide you tips on paddle techniques to get the best out of your river paddling. Our guided tours are run on grade 1 rivers and participants must be 18+. From this introduction you will have the skills and confidence to venture out onto the river with friends. These sessions are designed for those with their own equipment with some paddleboard experience. However, if you have previous experience we do have equipment for hire at £15pp. This hire fee is donated to Seaful Charity. You must be able to control your board and be able to self rescue. Meeting and Transport Information. We will meet 30 minutes prior to the session start time on the Severn Park Pay and Display (£5 Card Only) next to the Rugby pitches in Bridgnorth. What 3 Words Location ///caravans.buzzards.chat. From there we will arrange shuttles between us depending on numbers up to our launch point. The session on the water will be approximately 3-4 hours. At the end of the session lifts back to the launch point will be required to collect vehicles. Paddle time is 3-4 hours so please allow 1 hour either side for vehicle shuttle runs and equipment setup. Public Toilets are available in the Bridgnorth car park from April onwards although we launch from a Pub Carpark we cannot guarantee that the toilets will be available. Please ensure that you have the below kit. Paddleboard and Paddle PFD/Buoyancy Aid (Min 50n) Quick Release Belt River Fin advised (See shop or ask for details) Clothing to suit weather conditions (Winter Paddling, drysuit, dry trousers, or full wetsuit with boots advised) Packed Lunch Drink Sun Cream Suitable footwear such as water shoes or an old pair of trainers. We do not accept responsibly for any damage to personal equipment.

Cancellation Policy

We occasionally cancel sessions due to the weather conditions and river levels - most often high winds. We will provide you with the option to reschedule at a future date. If you cancel your session within one week of the confirmed date we will be unable to offer you a full refund.
